Sheikh Mohammed Leads UAE Flag Day 2025 Celebration at DIFC

Dubai: In a powerful tribute to the UAE’s unity, heritage, and progress, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, led the UAE Flag Day 2025 celebration at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) on Monday.

The annual event, organized by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in collaboration with DIFC, took place at The Gate Building, one of Dubai’s most iconic landmarks. The celebration brought together officials, students, and citizens to reaffirm their loyalty and pride in the UAE’s national identity.

Honouring the Founding Leaders

During the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed was joined by 150 students from Dubai schools in a symbolic flag-raising ceremony in front of The Gate Building. The structure featured a stunning 15-storey artwork depicting the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, immortalising their historic meeting at Sheikh Zayed’s farm in Al Khawaneej, Dubai.

The artwork served as the centrepiece of #ZayedAndRashid, a campaign by Brand Dubai that celebrates the visionary leadership of the UAE’s Founding Fathers and their enduring legacy of unity, wisdom, and nation-building.

A Symbol of Pride, Dignity, and Progress

In his address, Sheikh Mohammed described the UAE flag as ā€œa beacon of pride, dignity, and progress,ā€ symbolising the nation’s unwavering commitment to excellence and development under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

He emphasized that the UAE’s journey of growth continues to follow the principles set forth by the Founding Fathers, guided by the collective vision of Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates.

ā€œThe UAE flag will always represent our unity, our dignity, and our progress,ā€ Sheikh Mohammed said. ā€œIt stands as a symbol of our accomplishments and our ongoing pursuit of excellence in every field.ā€

Honouring the Legacy of Zayed and Rashid

Reflecting on the legacy of the UAE’s founders, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the values of hard work, dedication, and compassion that Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid instilled in the nation’s people. He said those values remain the guiding force behind the UAE’s success story.

ā€œEvery citizen carries the responsibility of contributing to our nation’s progress,ā€ Sheikh Mohammed said. ā€œTrue belonging is reflected through work, ethics, and achievement.ā€

He also reaffirmed that under the leadership of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, the UAE continues to grow stronger, more united, and more prosperous, setting new benchmarks in innovation, governance, and sustainability.

Flag Day: A Celebration of National Unity

First launched by Sheikh Mohammed in November 2013, UAE Flag Day is celebrated every year on November 3. The occasion honors the national flag as a symbol of unity, sovereignty, and belonging, representing the sacrifices of the UAE’s founding generation and the aspirations of its future leaders.

Flag Day is observed across all emirates with flag-raising ceremonies at government buildings, schools, and public landmarks. It serves as a reminder of the UAE’s shared identity and the unbreakable bond that unites its people under one flag.

Launch of National Month Campaign

The 2025 celebration also marked the launch of the National Month Campaign, which runs from November 3 to December 2, 2025, culminating on Eid Al Etihad (UAE National Day).

Organized by Brand Dubai, the campaign aims to celebrate the nation’s achievements, promote pride in the UAE’s remarkable journey, and encourage citizens and residents to express their love and loyalty to the homeland.

Through art installations, community events, and educational initiatives, the campaign will highlight the UAE’s progress across key sectors — from innovation and sustainability to education and cultural development.

The Spirit of the Union

As Sheikh Mohammed raised the UAE flag at DIFC, surrounded by students and national symbols, the moment served as a poignant reminder of the Spirit of the Union — a legacy of unity, ambition, and determination that continues to define the nation’s identity.

The UAE flag, he said, is not merely a national emblem but ā€œa representation of the dreams, values, and ambitions of a nation that continues to inspire the world.ā€
